First…Thankyou for visiting the new Sean Gallagher Photography Blog. This blog will be an area for me to keep you updated with what I am currently working on here in China, my thoughts on photography in general and hopefully a window into the life of a photographer in China.
So you may be wondering, why a blog now?
I had resisted jumping on the blogging bandwagon for sometime now, however I recently received a travel grant from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting (of which I will certainly post more later) and one of the stipulations of the grant was to write blog entries, documenting my work for them. The basic requirement was for a minimum of 3 or 4 posts. When I hit 9, just at the end of my 6-week trip, I started to realise I really enjoyed getting people ‘behind’ the pictures I was taking, through writing about my experiences on the Pulitzer blog.
China has been my home for the past 3 years and I hope this blog can offer you an insight into the life of a photographer, here in the People’s Republic. China is still very much misunderstood. I don’t claim to completely understand it, or have all the answers to everything that goes on here. However, as I work here, every picture I take takes me one step further towards comprehending this unique country. I hope through my pictures and posts, you can join me on this journey.
I shall try to keep this blog updated at least one a week. Bear with me though if it is sometimes sporadic. The life of a freelancer is unpredicatble but I’ll be doing my best to keep you updated.
Thanks again for reading. Please keep checking back.
Sean
