Testimonials

“Sean is a gifted presenter, possessed of both the humility to connect with any audience and the authority to effectively convey the importance of the critical environmental issues he covers.

I had the good luck to spend three days with Sean talking to students about global water issues in a dozen schools in St. Louis, USA. He is passionate about sharing his work, evidenced by the fact that the 12th time he gave his presentation in three days was as fresh as the first.  Sean has a genuine interest in his audiences and is patient in answering even the most basic questions.  Too, his persistence in reporting on issues that he cares about should be an inspiration to any student.” -Peter Sawyer, Special Projects Coordinator, Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting

“Sean Gallagher presents an engaging mix of photography and tales of life as a photojournalist concerned about the environment. But, more importantly, he shows the entryway into the documentary world for young journalists, something they can grasp better from him because of his age and his wit. Gallagher offered stories, one-on-one discussions and was a crowd pleaser in a larger setting. Our only regret was not having him visit here for a week, rather than just a few days!” - Barb Hipsman Springer – Associate Professor/News – Kent State University

“Sean Gallagher was a big hit with students when he spoke to my Health, Science and Environmental Reporting class at American University. He showcased his excellent journalism that documented the effects of climate change in China and gave the class an engaging first-hand account of how he created his striking photography and video work. Sean also generously shared his experience and expertise with students about the technical and artistic aspects of his work, and he offered thoughtful advice about the practicalities of working as a foreign correspondent. I’d be delighted to have him come back to speak to future classes.” - Declan Fahy, Assistant Professor, School of Communication, American University, Washington, D.C.

“Sean Gallagher’s workshop for my masters students was a treat. His lecture balanced a story of the Chinese landscape with a story of learning about it. This was all done with the benefit of a photographer’s eye and insight, providing a vivid, but touching, account of the beauty and diversity of the Chinese environment and the difficult relationship between it and the humanity that depends on it. His lecture was a perfect complement to the students’ academic reading on the subject.” – Dr Darryn Mitussis – MSc International Business Programme Co-Director – Nottingham University Business School
