Instagram has just launched IGTV, a new an exciting way to share long-form videos on the platform.

Followers of my work will know that I post regularly on Instagram, using it to share updates of my work and projects. While it has already been possible to share video on Instagram, it has been limited to short form video which is why this new announcement is so exciting.

Want more of an explanation? Here is the introduction from Instagram, “IGTV, a new app for watching long-form, vertical video from your favorite Instagram creators…IGTV is different in a few ways. First, it’s built for how you actually use your phone, so videos are full screen and vertical. Also, unlike on Instagram, videos aren’t limited to one minute. Instead, each video can be up to an hour long.”

I have just published two videos on my IGTV channel, one of which is brand new. The first video that was published last week is a re-formatted version of my ‘Exotic Pets in China’ video shot and produced for National Geographic (funded by the Pulitzer Center). The second (new) video is a ‘meet the journalist’ video which I produced for the Pulitzer Center. This goes ‘behind the scenes’ on how I made the Exotic Pets story, offering insights into the story-building process.
