Photography Tip – A Frame in a Frame

This week on Youtube and Instagram I introduced the latest photography technique of a ‘Frame in a Frame’. In this post, I go further in-depth into this technique and provide more examples for how you can use it to improve your photographs and make them more impactful.

Composition is one of the fundamental principles that we need to think about when we make images. Personally, I obsess over composition. It is the framework to our image. Every image is a subjective moment that we have chosen to capture. As we walk through the world, there are an infinite number of choices we have, in terms of what we want to photograph. Using the four lines of the rectangle that make up our viewfinder, we choose to isolate and capture just a fraction of the world we see around us. What we place inside that rectangle and how we arrange the elements within are incredibly important. This is composition.
