Road to Carbon Neutrality Screened at COP28 Climate Summit

The documentary ‘Road to Carbon Neutrality‘ was recently screened at COP28 in Dubai, at the China pavilion. This documentary, made with the National Geographic Channel, follows my journey across China this past year to photograph, document and try to understand the efforts China is making to meet its carbon neutral goals. On a personal level, it’s really gratifying to know that my photographic works are being displayed at the most important levels of climate talks. I truly feel that documentary […]

Yale Environment360 Publication – Cambodia Rubber Plantations

One of my drone video clips was used by Yale Environment 360 in their recent article “How Mounting Demand for Rubber Is Driving Tropical Forest Loss”. This clip was shot in 2020 as part of my Pulitzer Center sponsored project titled ‘Cambodia Burning’ which focused on the causes and impacts of deforestation and forest fires in Cambodia. The Beng Per wildlife sanctuary has been almost completely replaced by rubber plantations. We were denied access to the plantations but I was […]

China Dialogue – Image Publication – Beijing Floods

Two of my images appear in the article, “China’s northern floods show need for climate adaptation strategy”, on the China Dialogue website this past month. The two images were taken recently in the immediate aftermath of the floods which hit Beijing after record rains. “The downpours had severe consequences. Over five million people were affected across Hebei and Beijing, with 62 killed and 34 missing. Infrastructure was also damaged, and the economic toll across Hebei approached 100 billion yuan (US$13.7 […]

I spoke extensively about my long-term work on desertification and climate change impacts across the country. I also discussed my life and career as […]

New Images on National Geographic – Cambodia

Followers of my work will know I spent time in Cambodia earlier this year, documenting the challenges facing the country’s forests, as part of my project Cambodia Burning. The ecosystems of the country are intertwined and the loss of forests across the country is having […]

Environmental Photographer of the Year – Changing Environments Prize

I’m very happy to share the news that one of my images recently received the Environmental Photographer of the Year Changing Environments Prize from CIWEM. Taken in Tuvalu, it depicts the effects of coastal erosion, in the south west Pacific. It’s a problem that is being exacerbated by sea level rise and is from a series I produced in early 2019 looking at the impacts of sea level rise, coastal erosion and climate change impacts on the tiny south west […]

Guardian Feature – Tuvalu’s Sinking Islands

“One day we’ll disappear: Tuvalu’s sinking islands – Rising seas are on the verge of swallowing two of the tiny archipelago’s nine islands, and the encroaching waves haunt locals’ dreams” I was pleased to work with the Guardian Newspaper on this piece about the environmental challenges Tuvalu is facing. The article coincided with the visit of the United Nations’ Secretary-General, António Guterres, who was visiting the islands this past week. This is my second feature in a week on Tuvalu. […]

This story focuses on the rise in popularity of milk in China and the potential environmental consequences this is going to have for the world.
