Beijing Street Photography – New Videos

In this new series of videos, I want to give you an insight into what it is like photographing with me on the streets of some of Asia’s most interesting cities. We start in my home city of Beijing, China.

My work has evolved over the years. In my coverage of the climate crisis, I now use drones, shoot documentary films, incorporate portraiture etc., but the routes of my photographic approach lie in documentary and reportage photography. This means capturing the world as it is, without interference and as natural as possible. There’s a beautiful purity to this approach to photography.

Street photography can be done anywhere and it allows me to practice my skills, keep sharp, practice the arts of being patient and always looking out for the best light, or the unexpected moments. I can then transfer this practice to my main projects when I have an important assignment for a client or an environmental story I am working on.
