Mentorship 2018 – Bethany Augliere

I am pleased to announce that Bethany Augliere is the recipient of my 2018 Mentorship, a free tutorship which aims to give early career photographers and multimedia journalists an opportunity for feedback, critiques and advice on their work.

Bethany is a biologist, photographer and writer with her work focusing on the marine ecosystems of south-eastern USA, documenting the work of scientists researching animals such as dolphins, tortoises and manta rays. I’m looking forward to developing her projects over the course of the next 12 months.

Thank you to everyone that applied for the Mentorship Program this year.

ABOUT THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

The professions of photojournalism, filmmaking and multimedia storytelling have changed a lot in the past decade. The seismic shifts from the film world to digital. The proliferation of cameras which are now accessible to all. The ever-present internet in our daily lives. The avenues for sharing stories are now almost infinite.

In 2015, I began my new mentorship programme that aimed to help one photographer in the early stages of their career. The mentorship programme is now entering it’s 3rd year and is an opportunity for one photographer/documentary video-maker to receive my guidance over the course of a year. During that time, I meet (virtually, via email or Skype) each month with the mentee and offer thoughts, critiques and guidance on the projects that they are working on, in an effort to help give them assistance through their early work.
